Teaching with Primary Sources

“Seeing Primary Sources Through A Geographic Lens”

Primary sources are available from the Library of Congress to teach geography at any grade level and from any time period. Whether the document, song lyrics, photograph, or map is from colonial America or ancient Egypt, the tools and approaches developed through this collaboration will assist students in deciphering its geographic significance. While the materials distributed will focus on US History and the role of New Jersey, the inquiry-based model to the use of primary sources is broadly applicable.
