New Jersey Geographic Alliance is hosting three spring Professional Development Seminars for 4th – 8th grade teachers! All Workshops will focus on the Delaware Bay Watershed. The workshop dates are May 17th, May 31st, June 7th , and June 14th. Please note that the May 17th and June 7th workshops are full. June 14th has the most available space.
The June 7th (*Full) workshop will be held at the Wetlands Institute in Shore Harbor, NJ from 9 am to 1 pm. May 31st and June 14th will be held at the Poconos Environmental Education Center in Dingmans Ferry, PA from 10 am to 3 pm.Lunch provided at all workshops . The May 17th (*Full) workshop is in conjunction with the DE and PA Alliances, and will be held at the Dupont Environmental Education Center of the Delaware Nature Society in Wilmington, DE from 9 am to 3 pm.
The participating teachers will be taught how to bring National Geographic’s Fieldscope, an interactive and cutting-edge GIS technology program, into their classrooms. All participants will also get field experience on the water. Free materials, including maps, books, and sample lesson plans will be handed out at the workshops! The organizers are also offering up to a $200 stipend for teachers participating in the workshops!
